CHEMISTRY DEPARTMENT FACILITIES
The Department occupies the first floor of the Science Center, a $60 million project completed in September 2005 involving construction of a new four-story building (Phase I) followed by renovation of and addition to the original Science Building (Phase II). The Chemistry Department has approximately 14,000 square feet of usable space, which includes five laboratory spaces dedicated to student research, both Senior Projects and the active summer program. Synthetic and physical chemistry laboratories with a shared instrument room provide for the upper level courses. Three large teaching laboratories with associated instrument rooms serve beginning and intermediate courses. The new facility also has ample meeting and study areas in the spacious contemporary design.
